ABOUT US

The Nazarene Church has been a part of Sikeston since 1925, the result of a tent revival held by Rev. CJ Frost and Rev. JE Smith.  In 1926, she was established with 44 charter members and has faithfully served the city of Sikeston ever since.  In 1959, another Nazarene church was planted on the east side of Sikeston in an effort to better reach those who lived there.  Each continued with effective ministry separately...until recently.  The first Sunday of Advent 2021 marked the beginning of one, unified church family because we believe we are better together than we are separate. The name, Community Church of the Nazarene, was reached after thoughtful consideration of who God has called us to be. We desire to be a people who are reaching, connecting, and serving our community inside and outside of our walls. We love the community that God has strategically placed us in and would love for you to come be a part of His family here at Community Church!

WHAT TO EXPECT

There are certain things you can expect when you come to worship with us...

  • A Welcoming Atmosphere - We are here to love you unconditionally and want you to feel welcome with us.  There are no expectations, dress codes or pre-conceived notions.  Come as you are, but come prepared to experience the presence of God.

  • Authentic Worship - Worship is not something we only do on Sundays.  It's a 24-7/365 thing.  But Sundays are an intentional time to gather together to worship God.  Everything we do is focused on worship of God and God alone.  No fluff...no show...just worship.

  • Biblical Preaching/Teaching - We believe God's word is the foundation of our lives, so it is central to our gatherings as a community.  Our goal is to allow God's word to speak while giving practical ways to live out this life God has called us to as His people.

WE BELIEVE...
  • in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • that the Old and New Testament Scriptures are inspired by God and contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

  • that man is born with a fallen nature.

  • that all who fail to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior are hopelessly and eternally lost.

  • that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race and that whoever believes on the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved.

  • believers are sanctified wholly, subsequent to salvation, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • that the Holy Spirit bears witness to a new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

  • that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
